About
Captain Michael “Mike” Johnson has been a US Coast Guard licensed captain for the past 20 years. He recently upgraded his license to a USCG 100 ton Master license after completing the Professional Mariners Training course at the Chapman School of Seamanship in June 2009. He graduated Valedictorian at the top of his class and then worked as an instructor at the Chapman School.
His passion is boating, fishing and diving. He currently teaches private clients boat handling, navigation and various offshore and inshore fishing techniques. He also holds a towing endorsement and volunteers with Sea Tow of Palm Beach. He also does deliveries and fishing charters. Captain Mike has made over 200 trips to the Bahamas over the last 25 years. His is often the lead boat when a flotilla of new boat owners wants to make their first trip. If you are going to the Bahamas on your boat an experienced captain can make the trip more pleasurable, safer and less stressful and teach you the ins and outs. This may save you a lot of hassle and be cheaper in the long run.
While most people only travel to the main islands in the Bahamas, Captain Mike can lead you to some lesser-traveled islands that are more beautiful and often less expensive than the more tourist-oriented islands.
Captain Mike lives in Palm Beach Gardens. He is on a deep-water canal off the Intracoastal Waterway and recently built a state of the art 50-foot dock, which may be available for dockage.
